Standard Brokerage Fees For Exceptional Service

A topic today is whether discount brokerage fees are the wave of the future. Most hospitality owners believe that the most important consideration in choosing a broker is the standard of service received. Colin Noble is the owner and president of Noble Hospitality, with over 25 years' experience in the hotel industry, and a member of the AHCI Franchise Council. Noble said about brokerage fees, "I would rather pay the standard fee for excellent service than risk lesser service." Ron Marcou sold a group of 30 hotels very quickly. He successfully moved the properties so quickly by signing with a quality brokerage company. His concern was not a lesser brokerage fee, but quality, service, excellent reputation, extensive advertising, intensive effort and co-brokerage opportunities. Frank Smith, CEO of Southeast International Hotel Brokers, says, "If you were going for heart surgery, you wouldn't choose the cheapest surgeon, so why would you choose a broker based on a lesser fee?" Bottom line--paying a quality brokerage company a standard fee will insure the time and care that is warranted for each property.
